Have To Break This Place In Too (O2A)

Since the new restaurant had opened in the Angel’s tower, Jennifer had not been in to check the place out. She decided that ultimately this was bad and that she had to go in immediately in order to give the place her own round of inspection and if it was up to par, her approval.

A few nights before the next installment of Full Throttle Jennifer takes the elevator up to the top of the building and steps into the new addition. It was nice and it was just fancy enough to be a good place to escape but not so fancy that she felt like she had to break out her really nice clothes or a fake accent in order to feel like she was part of the atmosphere. As usual she gravitates toward a table by the window and grabs a seat. It was probably the best view of Downtown Toronto she’d seen so far and she sat for a moment trying to pick out places she’d been in the dark, while she waited to be served. She orders a vodka tonic and sits sipping and enjoying the ambiance for a while.

Blizzard walks in not too long after. Fortunately her Drew radar was in perfect working order. She gives a quick wave, looking to see if she is alone. She didn't want to break any groove Jennifer might be trying to make.

Hey firecracker. Miss me?

She laughs at the thought of it.

[Jennifer Drew]

She smiles and waves her over as she also tries to flag down the waitress.

Have I? Long time no see, well at least it seems that way. Come on pull up a seat, I’m drinking in the ambiance, and this liquor, but mostly ambiance. Have you been to this place before? You know it really pains me to admit it but I think it might be kinda…cool.

Wow, you really have been drinking haven't you.

She gives her playful nudge before taking the seat across from her.

No it's nice really. I was here last week? I think it was last week. Yesterday? I don't really remember leaving.

She takes a second to stop talking, and look out the window.

Nice view.

She looks a little closer.

Hey, I know that alley.

She points rather excitedly before turning back to Drew just long enough to stick out the tip of her tongue.

Oh, I saw you on the road with what appeared to be a Cookie Elf.

She looks concerned.

Is there something you're not telling me? I mean witchcraft is one thing, but Elves? That's a completely different issue. I mean I'm not judging or anything, but yeah. There it is. I've said it.

[Jennifer Drew]

She looks down for a moment, as if a big confession is coming.

Well, alright. I’m locked into an epic struggle between the witches and the cookie elves. It’s been going on for centuries, but it doesn’t really get much press, the mainstream media just doesn’t see the atrocities taking place on both sides. It’s sad really.

She hangs her head as she takes another sip of her drink.

I mean the Nabisco people won’t return my calls any more. I plan on winning one more battle for our people, it’s really the least I can do…except make people aware of how senseless it all is, but one, who has time and two which is more fun?

Oh Jennifer. I had no idea.

She pats Jennifer's hand with sympathy.

I guess it all makes sense now. The drinking, the scrolls, the late nights.

She sighs.

Such a brave woman. I don't know how you've carried it all this time. Will,

She looks up with dramatic hope.

Will it really be over this time? Is this really the end of all the madness?

[Jennifer Drew]

The look of hope is met with the look of a tired old soldier at the other end of the table.

What can one woman really do? It’s really all up to the politicians now.

She places the back of her hand on her forehead with a deep sigh lamenting the futility of it all.

Anyway, it’s good that I’m raising awareness here, maybe this will be the generation that changes it all. So, um other news I saw you and that Melissa Armstrong chick beating the hell out of each other, like a whole bunch. Are we basically in the same situation, here?

Except for the cookies, the elves, and the final battle? Then yes it's exactly the same.

She hold up two fingers to the waiter, to bring two more of whatever it is Drewz is drinking. Blizzard wasn't picky.

I don't know what it is about her that's gotten under my skin. But I was sitting there looking at the roster, watching COTT and there she was. It was kind of like looking at myself, and you know?

She grabs a drink from the waiter's returning tray.

I just can't have another woman running around here reminding me of myself. I mean it would be fine if she reminded me of a young me, or even could be the future me. But the now me? That seats taken.

[Jennifer Drew]

She picks up the other glass and sets it down next to the one she’s working on now.

Tell me about it. Since there’d be two yous I’d have to hang out with both of you, but since you hate each other it would be really awkward. I mean what happens if I’m here having a drink with you when you walk in, then I have to pretend we just ran into each other and that I’m leaving, but of course you see right through me. Also there’s the issue of the integrity of your personal identity. I mean, I didn’t forget about that. Well, at least it’s easy to scout yourself; the only problem is you might be too evenly matched.

How are you going to get an advantage, without her figuring it out and trying to do it first, I mean isn’t everything just going to cancel out?

The glimmer of appreciation passes Blizzard's eyes.

You would think that wouldn't you. But we can't forget that these scenarios always end the same. One of us is of course evil, and the good one is incomplete without the other. An epic struggle always ends with the tragically predictable conclusion that the Blizzard's actually need each other, and the evil gets sucked back inside.

She takes a drink, discovering it is Vodka for the first time.

Which sucks, because I think I'm the evil one.

She shifts her eyes in an obviously evil way.

But you can't mess with the order, can you. I will be absorbed into some middle of the road, supposedly complete Blizzard and live happily ever after.

[Jennifer Drew]

Jennifer points as if she’s shocked.

You’re the evil one? I’m… actually not all that surprised. I mean you not having a goatee or anything was misleading, but yeah.

She stares down at the table for a moment then looks up seeming a bit sad that they’re hurtling toward this turn of events.

So, I guess we should cause as much mayhem as possible before you have to deal with all those messy morals and ethics again. You know, while you’re still fun. It’s too bad it has to go down this way. You can’t like, you know elbow her in the face at the last second and then wham! “complete” but actually evil Blizz.

History is against me. I mean I wouldn't be the first evil split to try that. But let's face it, it works for a day or maybe two. Then the jigs up the second I try to do something evil, which of course is my nature.

She slams her drink back in determination.

But I'll go out in style.

She shakes her empty glass for another.

She freezes for a moment, deep in thought.

We lead very confusing, very depressing lives.

She slides the other glass into position on the bar napkin and moves the empty to the side of the table for convenient wait staff access.

I seriously can’t think of anything really good going on right now, I’m a pawn in an interminable struggle that doesn’t even make sense to me and pretty soon you’re actually going to have to think twice before you go for that chair shot. Please tell me there’s some sort of silver lining, or at least good news here, because all this might drive me to drink…more…than I already have tonight.

She tries to think of the ultimate cliche to tie their depressing lives back together.

At least, we have each other.

There it was. The one cliche that always made life worth living. Said with overacting delivery that used to make movies great instead of making movies money.

Jennifer attempted to come up with an equally clichéd response to Blizz, but it just wouldn’t come. The combination of her timing and delivery and the number of drinks she had made her way through caught her just right. Instead it was interrupted when she was forced to cover her mouth and breathe in order to avoid choking or spitting vodka across the table as she laughed. Eventually she’s able to catch her breath long enough to string a sentence together.

Sorry, I mean I totally agree, but wow, the only thing that could have made that better was a string quartet off to the side there. Wow, I tell you that was exactly what I needed right there. Thanks.

Thank god. If that didn't work, I was out of material. I would have had to resort to evil.

She manages to slip out of character after another drink.

You're the best Drewz. Have I told you that lately? Because really, you've just got to remember that.

Not lately, but I think you’re good for a couple more weeks now. You know you’re pretty great yourself.

She smiles and lets the moment go on for a little while as she drink drinks and looks back out the window for a moment.

Can’t wait until everyone else comprehends our greatness, but I guess it'll be a while before that happens.

She smiles.

It sucks when no one is around to see the obvious.

She rolls her eyes, rattling the ice in her glass before sucking a single cube into her mouth and crushing it.

But you and I have the inside lane. Once we finish Full Throttle and get a little wind behind us, look out babe.

Yep, I really can’t wait, you know then people might actually get it.

She takes another drink then scans the room for a moment.

Plus it’s not so much that no one’s around to see the obvious, and more like no one’s around at all. This place is deadish. Did we make with the scaring people off again, or are we just fashionably late to the site of the next show?

This place is really, really weird. Maybe it's the actual tower. I've never heard of a tower that didn't have some serious karma issues. But as long as my pay check doesn't disappear I guess I'll stay. Or at least I'll try to.

She ponders their strange existence within the tower.

You don't suppose we aren't being forward enough, do you?

It seemed a ridiculous assumption. They were aways out and about looking for trouble. But they only managed to find each other for the most part.

Blizzard looks down at her clothing.

Or maybe we aren't showing enough cleavage?
