The build up for the next showcase was well underway and matches were solidifying quickly, but there were still a few notable exceptions. One of the questions would be answered soon enough. “For the Workforce, Drowning” by Thursday plays meaning, unsurprisingly, here comes Jennifer Drew.
What was surprising was the fact that she wasn’t hunched over, wheelchair bound or even dead after her 90 minute 6-way ladder match of the year on Full Throttle. She did her best to not show any of the pain shooting through her body, but still if you looked closely you could see the effects of the war on her. The slower walk, the occasional rub of the back and a bandage partially obscured by pink bangs on her forehead all showed that she had sacrificed her body on the Altar of APW.
Even still she did manage to muster as many waves and metal horns as she could before she rolled under the bottom rope and grabbed her microphone. Jen gave the crowd a moment to die down while she stood still flashing a smile to all assembled.
APW fans, I’m glad to be here tonight at APW Presents Six Feet Deep featuring the Traditional Gravedigger Match. You know, I could keep doing plugs all night, but I’m here to say something important.
Jen pauses. Her expression changed dramatically and it was clear that it was time for business.
APW, it is time to give the devil her due. Tonight, here at Six Feet Under I want my shot at the Rose Title.
Months ago that probably would have gotten her booed out of the building, but people had come to accept Classic Jennifer Drew, and even love her again. Everyone seemed to love the though of her back at the center of all things wrestling again.
Ever since I showed up APW no matter what happened, no matter who I pissed off, no matter who I threatened to murder, they had to say “future Rose Champion.” And it seems like no matter where I go all I hear is why aren’t you at the top? “ Jenny, why aren’t you the champ, or the CEO or the President?” I asked myself the same question every time I heard that and I couldn’t come up with a good reason.
You know most of the time I’ve been here I let myself get distracted by things, I realized really don’t matter. And now, it’s time I focus on things that do. Like what I consider to be the most important title here. Tonight, I’m taking what I want, a real world title, one that’s around the waist of Rebecca Skye.
Rebecca, I could stand here and tell you ten jillion reasons why I deserve this title. I could go on and on and on and on and then on again about all the great stuff I think I’ve done this season, but I’m not going to tonight. No, I only need to say one thing to prove why I deserve my shot here at APW Presents Six Feet Deep. It’s because about one month ago, back when you were just a wide-eyed optimistic little thing on her way to the big dance I beat you. I think I’ve got one more win in me in me, so let’s make it count this time Becks.
Jen lowers her microphone as the cheers pick back up. This was definitely one people wanted to see, but would they? Would the champion make it official? She stood waiting, pacing the ring a bit as she waits for the Rebecca Skye to make her entrance. The PA comes alive when we hear the theme of…
