The scene starts off at a press conference that had been called by Tha Infamous 187. A man stood at the center of the table with a microphone in his hand. Plenty of the press had found themselves seats in front of a long table. Many many fans were behind the news reporters behind a guard rail. They were ready to see what 187 had to say. 187 knew rumors had gotten out quick about what he was feeling it was time for. The internet is a wonder. Word spread pretty quickly among websites. It was only a matter of time before it was going to happen. The kinds of things he had done in the ring over the years had taken its toll on the man. It was that time for him. The man looked out among the press and lifted the microphone up to his mouth so that he could speak.
Man: “I’d like to welcome you all joining us here today. This press conference was brought to you by the good people in The Familia. Let’s just get right down to business. Shall we? You all know his name. You all know what he’s done. You already know the best comes from the West. The man that is often imitated but can never be duplicated. The man that is often imitated but is never intimidated. He’s done it all for the fans since day one. Here he comes folks. Ladies and gentlemen please help me welcome… Tha Infamous…. 187.”
The sound of “Lose My Mind” by rapper Young Buck began to play through large speakers on either side of the table. The fans proceeded to cheer for 187 as they heard the music. Even though 187 had said some nasty things about fans a couple months ago, some still chose to follow him. The news reporters looked up upon hearing the music. Coming from the right side of the table, Tha Infamous 187 could be seen with an entourage of familiar faces with him as he was making his way up the steps towards his seat. Blinding flashes from the many cameras brought were the next. They needed photos for their news articles. 187 arrived at a chair that was in the middle of the table. He pulled the chair out and took a seat in it. Those he came with began taking seats in the other chairs around him. After he was seated and all was settled down, his theme music cut and 187 looked out among the anxious press. He shook his head as a smirk crossed his face. He grabbed the microphone that was in front of him and pulled it forward towards him. 187 looked out among the crowd and proceeded to speak….
“Now I know word has probably gotten out recently ‘dat I’m plannin’ on takin’ a rest from ‘da wrestlin’ bidness. You’re all probably wonderin’ what it is ‘dat I mean by “takin’ a rest.” Well, it’s pretty simple really. What is gonna happen soon is ‘dat I plan on retirin’. I know. It’s a sad day in professional wrestlin’. But I can’t do ‘dis fo’eva’. Especially not at ‘da rate I’m goin’. ‘Da things I’m doin’ in ‘da ring… ‘Da things I’ve done in ‘da past… It’s catchin’ up to me and it’s catchin’ up fast. I’m in pain everyday from what I’ve done in ‘da ring. You people have all seen it. It’s not ‘dat I’m some kind of wuss now. You’ve seen what I’ve done. I’ve been thrown against steel. I’ve been thrown off of steel. I’ve taken hits from all different things. I’ve literally defined the meaning of what some people would consider an “extreme” wrestla’. No. I’m not talkin’ ‘bout doin’ flips and sh*t like ‘dat. I’m talkin’ ‘bout ‘dat kind of extreme ‘dat involves stuff like ladders, weapons, tables…. Stuff like ‘dat. I’ve re-defined what it means to be “hardcore.” Probably not my best choice of where I decided to take my career wit’ ‘dis kind of style. But it happened. I gave you people a show you neva’ will fo’get. The memories I leave you wit’ will fo’eva’ linger in ‘da history books. You can’t look back and try to find some of ‘da greatest matches in recent years wit’out findin’ a few of mine among ‘da list. I’ve worked hard fo’ my spot. I’ve shed blood, sweat, and tears in ‘dat ring. I’ve got some big wins. I’ve taken some losses. But ova’ ‘da course of my career, I’ve done and achieved what few have been able to. Five years… A legend in ‘da f**kin’ makin’. But unfortunately wear and tear takes it’s toll and have worn me down quite a bit. I’ve got to call it quits. I’m sorry but I’m retirin’. I made my decision and I’m stickin’ to it.“
The reaction from all those who are either sitting or standing that attended this press conference was nothing short of shocked. They could not believe what their ears were hearing right now. 187 nodded his head as he looked out at the looks on the people’s faces.
“You heard me right. I’m retirin’. Some people might down talk me and say sh*t like “187 is quittin’.” I ain’t quittin’. Don’t start thinkin’ I’m some punk now ‘dat I’m retirin’. I’ve spent five hard and long years in ‘dis bidness. I nearly broke my back out there in ‘da ring fo’ ‘da fans. You all know ‘dis to be true. I went to war wit’ some of ‘da best ‘dis bidness had to offa’. Whetha’ I won or whetha’ I lost did not matta’, you respected me afta’ ‘da match. ‘Dats how it is. Not one person I’ve been in ‘da ring wit’ can eva’ truthfully say ‘dat facin’ me is not a life changin’ experience. Everyone who had faced me, comes out changed. Take a look at ‘da list. Roy Trigga fo’ instance. When I met him, he was all about bein’ ‘da best. All about risin’ through ‘da ranks. He faced me. Changed his world. Made him realize ‘da bigga’ picture. Sure. He might hate my guts now, but ‘da mothaf**ka respects me now. You can count on ‘dat. Even his homie Austin Harris. He thought it was okay to pick fights wit’ me. I split his wig on several occasions. Changed his life fo’eva’. Bet you he respects me now. They may lie and say they don’t. But honestly, they know deep in they hearts ‘dat I made them betta’. Hell, even today I’m changin’ lives. Look at Joe Bruisa’. F**kin’ hate ‘dat dude. Betcha he hates me too. Why? I changed his life fo’eva’. Stepped into ‘da ring wit’ me. Walked out a different person. He may hate me, but he damn sure respects me fo’ what I done to him. Hell, I even respect ‘dat bastard. I’m surprised his @$$ even still gets in ‘da ring wit’ me. Guess ‘dats part of why I respect him though. He ain’t run off like so many otha’s. ‘Da list goes on and on. Some I feel bad fo’ though. Feel like I might have ended they careers a lil’ too soon. But they respect me now and what I’ve done. Whetha’ they lost or whetha’ they beat me… They damn sure respect me. They probably won’t say it but they know damn well deep in their hearts ‘dat I’ve earned my spot. I’ve earned where I’m at today. I didn’t get to where I am simply ‘cause my name is 187. Nah. I got to where I am by makin’ mothaf**kas respect ‘da name 187. I made people respect me. I clawed my way to ‘da top. I didn’t get here on no escalator. Not at all. I climbed ‘da ladda’ like everyone else. Now you can’t go no where in ‘dis bidness… Hell… No where in ‘da world wit’out someone knowin’ just who ‘da hell I am. I am probably ‘da most hard workin’ wrestla’ out there in ‘dis industry today. It may not seem like it recently ‘cause I’m startin’ to slow down. But in ‘da past two season… these past two year… I’ve worked so damn hard in orda’ to put on ‘da best damn show possible. I’ve worked so hard ‘dat you could look back on ‘da past two seasons and say I’ve done enough work fo’ four seasons. I literally have put in so much work ova’ ‘da past two seasons ‘dat I’m exhausted now. I honestly sometimes feel like I spent too much energy in ‘dis bidness ‘dat I am exhausted. I’m in pain day in and day out ‘cause of what I’ve done in ‘dis bidness. There ain’t much mo’ ‘dat anyone can do to me. I’ve basically done it all in ‘dis bidness. From cages to ladders… From barbwire to wood… It doesn’t matta’ what it is. I’ve been through it all. These scars you see on my skin. Most of them ain’t from ‘dis bidness but some of them are. I’ve scarred my skin in ‘da ring fo’ ‘da fans. I’ve done it all people. I’ve done it all. I’ve been in every match type ‘dat ‘dis bidness had to offa’. From ‘da most traditional types of matches… to ‘da most extreme types of matches. I’m in pain every day of my life from ‘dis. I don’t even know what to say ‘bout it. I ain’t too keen on takin’ pills. So I know some cats might pop some painkillers or some type of sh*t to give them ‘da extra edge to keep goin’. But me? Not at all. I take ‘da pain like a f**kin’ man. But it’s taken its toll on me ova’ ‘da years. You don’t see it when I’m in ‘da ring, but I got two big knee braces on my legs unda’neath my pants ‘dat I had to start wearin’ a few months ago ‘cause my legs just ‘bout ready to start givin’ out on me. It’s my time. After ‘da last pay per view, “Game Ova’, “ then I’m out. I’m done wit’ it all. I’ve come out night afta’ night. I gave you people whatcha wanted. I appreciate ‘da support you’ve given me ova’ ‘da years. I know I said some things in recent monthes ‘dat some people didn’t like, but I was just pissed. ‘Dats all. I may have said somethin’ like “F**k ‘da fans” but at ‘da time, my mind was just a bit messed up. I wasn’t thinkin’ straight. And I’m glad you guys who came out tonight still show yo’ support even though I went on blastin’ ya on camera. It’s been fun. But I’ve gotta go. I've accomplished all I've wanted or needed to in 'dis bidness. Made a name fo' myself. Got my lil' sista' outta 'da bad part of Los Angeles and up in Beverly Hills. Fo' those who followed me know what I'm talkin' 'bout. You know what I did last year. And I've got done what I wanted to in my personal life. I know money won't help wit' how my family feels 'bout me but I'm tryna' make things right. Can't change who I am. Can't change what has happened. Can't change what I've done. But I'm tryna' reconnect wit' them. I've accomplished what I wanted there. I got myself a little list of belts unda' my name. I've held small titles. I've held big titles. No need in provin' 'dat I can hold my own in championship situations. I left you all wit' memories 'dat will foreva' be rememba'd by all. I've had some of 'da most grueling and most extraordinary matches wit' some big names. I'm part of 'da most influencial "family" in 'dis bidness. I've done a lot ova' 'da course of five years. I don't need to prove a damn thing anymo'. I'm packin' up afta' Game Ova' and headin' out."
He paused for a moment at the sad reaction of the fans. 187 nodded his head. He understood that they didn't want him to go. But he knew that they understood what he was saying as well. If they were in his spot, feeling what he's feeling, they'd do the same.
"Don’t be sad though. It ain’t ova’ fo’ me.”
He paused for a moment. Letting what he had said sink in. He reached forward and firmly grabbed a glass of water that sat on the table in front of him. He lifted it up to his lips and took a quick drink from the glass. He needed that. Talking so much can dry your throat quick. He set the glass down and looked up at the people. Then 187 began to speak again…
“Now… Just ‘because I’m not goin’ to be in ‘da ring anymo’ does not mean I’ma just up and disappear. Nah. ‘Dat ain’t gonna happen. I got too much love fo’ ‘dis bidness just vanish. I’ll still be around. Behind ‘da scenes and all ‘dat. Someone gotta make sure ‘dat Kenisha Williams is still in ‘dat ring showin’ them Roses how to get it done in ‘da ring. I’ll be sharin’ my knowledge of ‘da ring to some of ‘da younger talents. Got some of my own people up in California ‘dat I’m gonna be trainin’. I’m sure you’ve all heard of my homie sittin’ right here beside me. ‘Da young up and comin’ supa’star named Jay Crack…”
He paused for a moment as the fans began to cheer. That very man Jay Crack was sitting on the right of 187 at the table with him. They indeed did hear and see him before. Of course, he was going to be one of the few people that 187 had taken under his wing to guide in this business. This made his smirk on his face grow a little bit. 187 then went on to say…
“Yeah. I knew you guys heard of him. He’s been uppin’ his game in ‘da independent circuit. I gotta make sure ‘dat he’s ready to change ‘da game. He’s definitely made an impact since first poppin’ up ova’ in Ohio. Keep an eye out fo’ him. He gonna be makin’ a name fo’ himself quick. Crack’s been “crackin’ some skulls among ‘da independent circuit. So if you wanna catch him ‘round ‘da ring. Just make sure you look us up online at www.comptonsmostwanted.com. (Not a real site) You go to ‘dat website and you’ll be able to check up on updates from me and all ‘da rest from our trainin’ camp. Look up Crack on there and see where he’ll be headin’ next. As a matta’ of fact… Anotha’ one ‘dats gonna be ‘round in ‘da independent circuit is my otha’ homie sittin’ here on ‘da otha’ side wit’ me. You guys might have caught a glimpse of him a few months ago here in APW. My homie Jin mothaf**kin’ Remmy.”
187 points to the man sitting on the left of him. Jin Remmy simply nodded his head to the crowd sitting in front of them. He had appeared in a video promo that 187 had directed toward Joe Bruiser. Some may remember his face. Some may not. Either way, if they were cool with 187, the fans were cool with them. They cheered. Quite interested in these new wrestlers that 187 had said he had been training. You know they’ve got to be good if they been around someone as dedicated to this business as he is. 187 continued…
“Fo’ real though. Watch out fo’ Jin Remmy. ‘Dis mothaf**ka is a problem. He got some major skills on him man. His style is just gonna make you guys re-think whatcha think ‘boutcha current favorite wrestla’. Unless ‘dat me… Then well… You know you can roll wit’ ‘da rest of us too. You thought Jay Crack was a bad mothaf**ka just by himself? When I unleash anotha’ one into ‘dis bidness, they gonna call me up and ask me to shut my sh*t down. These two are some bad mothaf**kas. Put them togetha’? Oh you don’t want to be on ‘da receivin’ end of ‘dat exchange. These two are gonna change ‘da face of wrestlin’ soon. I got one mo’ ‘dats here wit’ us. He ain’t got no camera time just yet. He strictly been just trainin’ hard and gettin’ into shape. If you look on ‘da right of Jay Crack, you will see anotha’ protégé’ of mine. He goes by ‘da name Young Felony. He’s gonna be a problem. You can count on it.”
187 points to a fairly large African American man that was sitting beside Jay Crack. Black shades covered his eyes as a fitted red, white, and black camouflage hat was tilted to the left side of his head. Black braids down the back of his head and he had a goatee for his facial hair. He was simply dressed in red, black, and white camouflage clothing similar to that of 187. Young Felony gave the fans a wave and they would cheer for him too. 187 begins to speak again…
“So I won’t be completely torn away from ‘da bidness. I’ma share my knowledge wit’ these three. Learn them a thing or two ‘bout ‘dis bidness. Then soon, they’ll be tearin’ up ‘da mat on ya television screen. They’ll be ya favorite wrestla’s favorite wrestla’. All in a matta’ of time. I’ll be trainin’ these three along wit’ Kenisha Williams. So I’ll still be in touch wit’ ‘dis bidness. You won’t have me personally in ‘da ring kickin’ some @$$ and takin’ names. But you’ll be glad to know ‘dat I’m still workin’ ‘dat magic of mine behind ‘da scenes and makin’ sure you people are still gettin’ a hell of show. And hell…I might show up and show face from time to time and letcha know what we’re all about. I ain’t gonna be completely gone. Nothin’ too major. Retire and still ‘causin’ trouble from beyond ‘da mat. As unfortunate as it may be, I will be gone. Sorry but, when I gotta go. I gotta go. It’s been fun. Some of you might be wonderin’ where ‘dat leaves me wit’ ‘Da Familia. Well, I’ve already talked it ova’ wit’ my brotha’s in ‘Da Fam. They full hearted unda’stand ‘da situation. They’ve been right by myself side these past two years. They know first hand what it is I’m talkin’ about. They’ve been there right beside my as I’ve broken my back fo’ ‘da fans. They support my decision to step away from ‘da bidness. They know when it’s time for a person to step down, it’s ‘dat time fo’ them. So me and ‘Da Familia, we’re still cool. Ain’t no bad blood ‘bout it. Once Fam, always Fam. ‘Dats just how it is. But I ain’t done yet. I got one mo’ good month in me befo’ I hang up these Chucks of mine. And you know what?”
187 smirk returns across his face as he stands up from his seat. He reaches down and grabs the microphone from his table and lifts it up to his mouth. He looks out to all his adoring fans who are cheering for him as he stands up. Awaiting what he’s going to say. They hope it’s something good. 187 then finishes off by saying…
“I am gonna give you a show ‘dat you people will neva’ eva’ forget.”
He pauses once more as he laughs to himself for a second.
“Why? Because I can. I am gonna put it out here right now. You want a piece of me befo’ I go? You want some of me befo’ I leave? Make sure you make it known ‘dat you want some. I ain’t even got a problem wit’ it. Come get some. I’m out. FAMILIA BITCH!”
187 drops the microphone down on the table. With that said and done, his theme music begins to play through the speakers again. The fans clapped for Tha Infamous 187 and they cheered their hearts out a she was making his exit. Letting him know that they appreciated all he had done in the ring. Letting him know that what he did was indeed imbedded in their memories forever. His three friends and trainees begin to stand up from their seats. He let it be known that he is indeed retiring. But he was definitely going to go out with a bang. There was no other way to go out unless it was in a blaze of glory. He stands there today as a man who had overcome every obstacle placed in front of him. A man, who even when he was down, managed to get right back up and dust himself off to try again. You may hate the man. You may love the man. But Tha Infamous 187 definitely put in his fair share of work around the business. He’s done enough to be respected. That’s all he had ever asked for in the beginning. Disrespect him? You got an earful and your hands full. Whether you admit it or not, you step into the ring with 187… you do not leave that ring the same person you were when you came. He walked down from the press conference with a smirk on his face. It was for sure that this… This was Game Over for the man known as Tha Infamous 187.
Man: “I’d like to welcome you all joining us here today. This press conference was brought to you by the good people in The Familia. Let’s just get right down to business. Shall we?
