Taylor was heading for the stage down one of the backstage hallways. He had beaten 187 on Full Throttle. But, he didn't understand what had happened. 187 hit him with his patented Break Yo' Neck finisher, but didn't go for the pinfall. Why? Why had he not? Taylor didn't know the answer. He only knew it frustrated him, making him believe that perhaps his victory was not a victory at all. His mind was clouded from the whole thing. He reached the stage. It was time for him to go out and prove to himself it wasn't just a fluke. He cues for his music to be hit.
Hey Man, Nice Shot hits the speaker system and he walks out on stage, water bottle in hand. He looks around the arena at the large crowd on hand tonight. After doing so, he begins his walk to the ring. After his trek down the ramp, up the stairs, and into the ring, he walks to the other side to receive a mic. A ringside crew member hands him one through the ropes. Taylor takes a moment to check that it's on before slowly walking to the center of the ring. His music fades away as the mic raises up for him to speak.
At Full Throttle, I beat a former APW World Champion. But, I keep wondering to myself, was it a victory......or a fluke? I plan to find out right now. Tonight, I'm challenging the World Champion Jason Cross to a non-title match at the last Full Throttle of the year!
The fans cheered loudly for the challenge. He took a moment to listen to the cheers, the only thought in his mind being if he was getting in over his head. 187 was the guy Jason Cross had beat for the World Championship almost two months ago. Could the win have boosted Taylor's confidence and motivation that much? He turns toward the stage.
So, Jason Cross! Here is my challenge to you! I want one shot against THE MAN! I want one shot at the WORLD CHAMPION! I want a one shot at YOU! Don't keep the fans waiting on an answer. Come on out and show me what your made of.
He lowers the mic as the fans begin chanting for Cross to make his presence known.
