Getting Her Paws Wet (O2A)

An unfamiliar music erupted from the PA system. "Rose" by Anna Tsuchiya was the music that caught the attention of APW's fans. All eyes turned to the stage as Jade Seung Hun make her first debut appearance on Full Throttle. She was startled at first when she looked out at the people in the crowd tonight. Jade had not expected the crowd to be as big as it was. Her times back in the independent circuit, the audience size was never as big as this. These numbers were insane. She tried to play it off as if she wasn't startled. A nervous smile graced her lips as she began to walk down the ramp. A wave here and there at the fans as she walked down the ramp. The fans didn't know what to make of the ears on the top of her head. Jade pretended like she didn't see the awkward looks. Pretending as if the ears weren't even on her head. Jade hoped they thought they were fake and just some kind of strange headband. She made her way to the ring apron and slid underneath the bottom rope. She quickly pushed herself off of the mat and stood up to her feet Once she was in the ring, she headed over to the other side and requested a microphone from someone at ringside. A staff member was quick to get Jade a microphone. Now that she had a microphone, Jade walked into the middle of the ring. Her music turned off and she had her eyes focused on the fans. Raising her microphone up, Jade speaks...

"He-hello out there. My name is Jade Seung Hun, a rookie Rose. And... Well... Umm... I'm not sure how this is done... So... Umm... I guess I'm looking for a match with anyone at all... And um.... It doesn't matter who it is against. It's an open challenge to any Rose who is looking for a match. I'll take on any challenger.... So... Ummm.... Come on down...?"

Nervous much? You bet Jade was. She lowered her microphone. Her eyes looking to the stage in hopes that someone answers the call.

“Music is my Hot Hot Sex” plays as Mariana Cavalera steps out onto the stage with her usual undeserved sense of self satisfaction. Getting beat down by Scarlett Rose didn't seem to have put a damper on her good mood. She was loose and confident, almost the complete opposite of the newcomer.

Ay, come on now.I know this is your big night Miss Kitty, but you've got to relax. What I want you to do right now is take a deep breath, smile and look cute at the camera for your mommy and leave the tough stuff to me. I am the MOSTLY undefeated Mariana Cavalera. And you know I came out here to see what kind of competition I'm up against here. Scarlett the Rose, she may have beat me 1,2,3, but she'd best pay attention to the power of Brazilian athleticism. Jade Seung Hun tonight I think you might have, como se diz, stepped in it.

Oh, and one more thing...

You got something on your head, honey.

"Something on my head? Oh? You mean these?"

She points to the ears ontop of her head. A forced smile on Jade's face as she responds...

"These... are... my ears. Aren't they cool? Eh.. heh... heh..."

She continues to smile nervously, looking around at the fans. Then she focused back on Mariana. Taking a deep breath, counting backwards from five, and continues...

"I don't know Mariana. You ever heard the expression "Don't judge a book by it's cover?" That what you're doing. I know. I may not look like much, but... Umm... You're just going to have to find out when you face me. I guarantee you might be surprised in what you will find. Hehe..."

Mari starts to go off on another rant but suddenly has a “Eureka” moment.

I see what you are trying to do Jade Kitty Kitty Hun. This is a trick!

I step into the ring and slap those two thing off of your head with the flick of a wrist then I stand there waiting for you to scream in pain. But then instead of the big victory against a deaf opponent all of a sudden, I'm shocked and surprised that I fell into the trap of your false weakness.

It was a cunning plan but Mariana Cavalera can clearly see your ears, your REAL ears, stuck onto the side of your head!

That's Mari. She just had to turn every little thing, including her own astounding mastery of the obvious, into a personal victory.

I will still grant you the element of surprise but I won't be taken in by your deception.

Should have expected that. Jade should have expected her ears to be a target of conversation right off the bat. Guess there is no point in hiding or denying it now. It's either say she's wrong and prove it. Or it's say she's right and have to protect her ears and look bad for the rest of her career. She breath in deeply and exhaled hard. Raising her microphone up, she responded...

"And in that assumption Miss Cavalera... You would be wrong. I believe that you need you're eyes checked because... Umm... You're wrong."

Jade reached with her free hand to pull her hair back. Revealing that in fact there were NO ears on the sides of her face. Nothing but flat skin on the sides of her face where her ears should have been.

"See?"

The fans watch on. Shocked at what they were seeing. Guess they didn't know someone like her existed.

"The ears on my head are my real flesh and blood ears."

She twitched them, only further proving she did not need her hands to move her ears.

It wasn't so much the moving ears on the top of her head, it was the smooth sides of her head that was the real nightmare fuel.

How does that even happen? Are there just half-cat people walking the streets now? Did you choose those as a transplant after a car accident? Were you genetically engineered by some Japanese artist with a sick imagination?

Uh, say something if any of those are right. Seriously.

Wait... what was her point?

Whatever the explanation it does not matter. The ears, they do not impress me and Mariana Cavalera can do amazing things too.


I just choose not to now.

[meow]

Jade just kind of stood there with a look of confusion on her face.

"Erm... I was born like this... My parents had ears like this. Their parents did, and their parents did, and so on... I would show you my tail, if I still had it. Unfortunately, as a child, there were some normal folks like yourself who didn't take too kindly to a "freak" like me and well... Let's just say the scar tissue is always a good reminder of how cruel your people have been to my kind. But this is not a personal vendetta by yours truly. It's a simple open challenge and you wanted to be the one to introduce me to this world of wrestling. And, I guess I take it you're pretty good since you seem to think so highly of yourself."

She paused for a moment. Seeming to become less nervous now that all that's on the table.

"I guess I'll have to see what you can do in the ring then, won't I?"

Before even a tinge of guilt sets in she catches herself.

Espera! Don't you look at me like that. I am not one of the evil persecutors. We do not have this in Brazil. You all saw it, I just heard cat people even existed five seconds ago. And you expect me not to have outrageous and possibly borderline offensive questions?

Perhaps it is you who have judged me too harshly Jade Seung Hun, with all your talk of how cruel “my” people have been to you. Have you not made assumptions because I too am different, some would say better, than the rest of the world?

Didn't think of that did you? Let us all think on this while I prepare for this match.

We see Mari mouth the words “Shame on you” as she walks backstage shaking her head.




Minutes later...

We see Mariana walking backstage already dressed and ready to go a few minutes early. She seems to be warming up but the look on her face says something is clearly bothering her. In close the camera picks up her muttering.

Born that way. Is that even possible?


She finds a laptop set up by some crew members backstage and does a quick search
only to find.

Damn it, I'm going to have that in my head the whole time I'm out there.
