It was a quiet spring day, as Laura sat in the massive swing on her front porch, the letter in her hand being unfolded as quickly as possible with the smile on her face growing by the second. The slight breeze blowing through ruffled the pages of the letter slightly, as she struggled and fought to get things in order so she could finally read up on what's been going on with her friends and "family". She paused for a moment, staring out into the massive landscape that was her front yard as she noticed Nicole and the others out and about, seemingly enjoying the weather and the outdoors this early morning. She chuckled a bit, watching as Jessie seemingly was chasing Nicole with some kind of device in her hand, the both of them laughing hard and obviously enjoying the moment of time being spent with long time friends. A quick glance towards the opposite side of the front yard and her eyes were immediately laid upon Mr. Storm, tending to the grill in front of him with his giant chef's hat he always wore. She merely shook her head in disgust as she saw him taking a long hard stare at Mikki's backside as she passed. Once a pervert always one she thought.
Finally getting things situated with the letter, she leaned back against the back of the swing, starting a slow rocking motion as her opposite hand moved a bit of the hair from her vision before beginning. It had been a few months since she last heard from anyone. The smile on her face shows once again as she sees that it was Kevin whom had wrote her this time. She was anxious to hear how Stacie and the baby were doing anyway so it made this all the more better for her. She began to read...
Dear Laura Love(Stacie MADE me put that)
How's it goin' up there in good old Boston Mama Bear? Heh, probably just as busy as we are I guess huh? Been a while since I sent you one of these and Stac was getting on my case about it alot so I figured what the hell, no time like the present.
Well, things been pretty much quiet for us here in Fort Worth. The same old every day happenings. Dealing with the wife of course as always. She's still being too good to me and still got me wrapped around her finger too. No shame in my game ya' know? When it's good it's good. But yea it's still feeling like we got married like two days ago I gotta say. Guess I got lucky and hit the "jackpot" this time. No pun intended. Talked to Dice a few weeks ago. Yuki and he doing pretty good over in Japan and all. Dude was talking like he's some big ass mob boss or somethin' though now. Funny. Damn near reminded me of V back in the day ya' know? Guess that's the Yakuza thing with Yuki and all though. Meh. But hey at least dude doing alright though. That's all I'm worried about.
You pretty much know what's going on with everybody else so...I won't go into that too much. I know some it's still upsetting to you especially so we'll leave that alone for now. I still think about em' all the time though. Can't help that I guess with all the time we spent together.
Emily's doing good too. Damn girl can talk better than me right now. Almost sound like her daddy did back in the day pwning noobies on the radio. She ain't cursing though...As much...But ahh...Yea. She's good. Beautiful as ever too. Got me wrapped around her finger too sad to say. Damn I got it bad eh? Whatever.
Still just kicking back and running the business for the most part though. Trying to stay honest and out of trouble if you can believe that. Still feels funny being THIS damn legit and not on the run or something from somebody. Stacie still wrestles a bit on the indy circuit too. Girl's just a natural I keep trying to tell her. But you know her, always modest and shit. She just doesn't know how good she is I think. Me, I get my big ass in there every now and then too. Can't hurt to go back and relive a few memories here and there. Good to prove you still got it too so...Feeds that ego a bit. LOL
But yea all is well with us out here Mama Bear. You need to get out of Boston and come on down and check us out sometimes ya' know? Ain't no more drama gonna jump off so it's cool. The ones that are still standing would love to see you I'm sure. But drop us a line and let us know how you're doing too. Call. E-Mail. Something. Hell just let us know you're alright Laura. Well, gotta go now. Stacie is calling. Emily probably broke something else or whatever. That girl. I swear she's gonna be Familia material. Until next time Mama Bear...
Kevin
Familia...Now...And Forever...
Finishing up the letter, she smiled brightly hearing that her family was doing good lately. A single tear found it's way down her cheek. Not one of sadness but one of happiness. She loved getting these letters in the mail from the boys and kept them all locked away in a special place so she could keep track of them always.
Leaning back against the swing again as the wind had seemingly picked up a bit, she glared out over the landscape again, thinking of the days past. Days past with her Familia. Oh how she missed those days. They were a motley crew that was for sure, but no matter what they were her boys and she loved them dearly. And she always would.
A slight chuckle left her lips, thinking of some of the things those boys used to pull back then. It was only 2 years removed but seemed like so much longer for some reason.
She glared down towards the hard wood her feet rested on before sighing as she stood from the swing...Suddenly her ears caught wind of a noise inside of the house of the porch she sat upon. She quickly shook her head, turning slowly as if the look on her face suggested she wasn't surprised by the noise at all. Seconds later she was waving to the girls to inform them that she'd be back momentarily, and stepped through the screen door of the house, slowly making her way through towards where she seemingly knew the ruckus was coming from. Within seconds of beginning her trek down the hallway she was calling out, in search of...
Cross?...Cross?!!?...Where are you and what are you doing?...No telling what this time...*sigh*...
There was no answer. Just more noise as she proceeded through the house. Stopping only momentarily in front of the doors of each room as she peered into each one in search of the culprit. Her head was seemingly on a swivel as she bounced from door to door of the house. Bathroom, bedrooms, the den, even the dining room as she kept on, the brow on her face raising slightly.
After coming to the final room towards the back of the house, the third of the bedrooms, a smile came across her face as she stopped just short of the doorway. She slowly moved her body against the wall, peeking around the corner to see if she could spot him. Sure enough she did, and the smile on her face only grew by the second. She stood there watching him for a few moments, taking in his every movement and attempting to determine just what he was gazing at so very intently. She stared at him for what seemed like an eternity to her. But most likely was no more than a few minutes, the roar of whatever program he was staring at so diligently, filling the room so much that he didn't even notice her now standing in the doorway, shaking her head as she stood motionless with her arms folded. Not wanting to startle him she stepped towards him slowly as she finally spoke up, announcing her presence...
What are you doing Cross?...And exactly WHY do you have this television THAT loud?...
His head turned suddenly, a clear look of shock on his face as their eyes met. She continued to approach the very spot where he stood. Only seconds later she had arrived at that very spot, the smile on her face now ear to ear as she slowly bent her knees?....Squatting just enough to lift him into her arms, as she pulled the toddler close to her in her arms. Her eyes danced over every inch of him as she held him close to her with one arm, the opposite seemingly removing something from around the collar on his shirt. She shook her head, the sounds of the toddlers voice clear to her ears as she began to survey the damage done by him while she stepped out onto the porch for a few moments. Her eyes quickly come into contact with what she believed to be the cause for the last bit of noise before she re-entered the house.
Taking a few steps closer to the television, she repositioned him into her opposite arm, bending down and taking up the fallen picture frame into her hands. Slowly standing back up to an up right position, she smiled slightly before turning around and beginning her steps towards the door. Holding the frame up into plain eye view, she made sure he noticed the object in her hand, stopping just short of the door the second he finally turns his attention to the picture in the frame. His small arm extends, his tiny fingers almost crashing into the frame at first, causing for another slight chuckle from Laura. Seconds later a more gentle touch upon the frame, almost as if he was taking in the picture and the gentleman posed inside of the frame. Finally seeing that he was indeed focused on the picture, she nodded her head slightly, speaking the words...
Who's that Cross?....Hm? Who's that? That's Daddy. Can you say daddy?....
FADE TO BLACK...
Now...And Forever...
