**takes place during the Full Throttle taping***
As Daylight Dies hits the PA, and The Monster steps from backstage. As he makes his way down the ramp, the crowd begins the ritual "Fear The Monster" chant. Dru rolls into the ring and calls for a mic...
What an interestin' 2 weeks it's been, hasn't it folks? I mean we finally have some stability. Some clarity into what direction APW is gonna be headed. Not bad. Not bad at all. But quite frankly, from me to you...I think it STINKS. Why you ask? Let be bottom line it for ya. Over the last 2 weeks there's been quite a few of the youngin' back stage flappin' there gums about how "great" they are. About how much they're gonna change the game, make an "impact", yadda yadda yadda. Hmmmph, How many times have I heard that over the years. Seems every place I go you've got your hot shot young bucks with tons of talent and EGOS to match. Makes me sick. I'm not gonna drop names cuz well, they ain't important enough to drop really. I've been bustin heads, kickin' ass and takin' names in this business since most of the punks back stage were practicing hammer locks on there kid sisters. I've seen 'em come and go, and 2 decades into this, It never changes.
Dru pauses. He paces around the ring letting his words sink in before continuing.
Ya see folks. There's something I see that's been lost in the translation over the years. It's called "respect". In this day and age, everyone wants to get over. Everyone wants there title shots, there guest spots in movies, there endorsement deals. Whatever happend to wrestling, fighting for pride? For showing that you've got the heart, the conviction, the WILL to be the best? Title belts don't make legends, Legends make Titles. I've not held a belt for over 2 years, but I'm still regarded the best damn wrestler of my generation. I paid my dues. I took my lumps. I traveled the road less traveled. Alot of these kids, yea I said KIDS, travel from show to show in personal buses, Charter planed, all kinds of crap. I travel coach. Why you ask? Hell you've got cash commin' outta yer ears Dru, why not live it up??? Because it's a DISTRACTION that's why. A man by the name of Big Bear Willis once told me the key to making it in this business is to stay Honest, Hungry and Humble. And god rest his soul, That's how I survived 14 years in this business.
He pauses again, taking a deep breath before saying his final piece.
Now I told myself when I signed here I wasn't gonna meddle. I was just gonna do what I do best and leave everything else to chance. But sitting back stage, watching these youngins' make what I busted my ass damn near 15 years to build credibility in the U.S. for look like an episode of One Tree Hill. In between these ropes, this is MY house. And I'll be damned if you make my house look like crap. So fellas, ladies...knuckle up...SHUT UP...and wrestle. That's what we all are in the end. Or at least, that's what many of you PRETEND to be.
Dru drops the mic, and the crowd explodes into cheer. It would seem as if the Dru of old was indeed back...And he's fightin' mad.
